Everyday oral surgery
The procedures we perform most, week in and week out — done gently, with sedation available for every one of them.
Wisdom Teeth
Wisdom teeth are the last teeth to arrive and the first to cause trouble. Most mouths simply don’t have room for them, so they come in tilted, trapped beneath gum and bone, or pressed against the tooth ahead of them. Left alone, an impacted wisdom tooth can cause repeated infections, decay in its neighbor, or quietly grow a cyst around itself.
Wisdom tooth removal is one of the most common procedures we perform. Most patients choose IV sedation and rest comfortably through the visit. When a root sits directly on the jaw nerve, Dr. Lee offers coronectomy, a nerve-protecting technique that removes the crown of the tooth while deliberately leaving the root undisturbed.
When a tooth can’t be saved — broken beyond repair, failing under an old crown, or infected past the point of a root canal — removing it well matters for everything that comes after. We perform routine and surgical extractions with a gentle, tissue-respecting technique, remove retained roots, and smooth the surrounding ridge at the same visit so a future denture, bridge, or implant has a comfortable foundation.
Dental infections and abscesses are treated promptly, including incision and drainage when an infection needs to be emptied. If you’re in pain or swelling now, call — urgent infections get worked into the schedule quickly.
Sometimes a tooth — most often an upper canine — gets stuck and never erupts on its own. Working from your orthodontist’s plan, Dr. Lee surgically uncovers the tooth and bonds a small bracket with a gold chain to it. At your next orthodontic visit, that chain becomes the handle your orthodontist uses to guide the tooth gently into its proper place over the following months.
The timing, technique, and follow-up are coordinated directly with your orthodontist, so the surgical step fits seamlessly into your overall treatment.
Denture & Pre-Prosthetic Surgery
A great denture starts with the right foundation. Sharp or uneven ridges, bony growths on the palate or under the tongue (tori and exostoses), enlarged tuberosities, and shallow vestibules can all keep a denture from seating comfortably — and all of them are fixable with small, well-planned procedures.
We reshape and smooth ridges, remove tori, and refine soft tissue in coordination with the dentist making your denture, including extraction visits where your immediate denture is placed the same day and acts as a bandage while you heal.
Your comfort, our priority
Sedation & Anesthesia
Every procedure above can be done comfortably — and for most
patients, comfort is the deciding factor. We offer a range of
anesthesia options, from local anesthesia for simple visits to
IV sedation that lets you rest through surgery, chosen with you
at your consultation based on the procedure, your health
history, and your preference. Patients receiving IV anesthesia
have a preoperative evaluation first, every time, and are
monitored throughout by a team trained for exactly this.
From replacing one tooth to rebuilding the bone that makes replacement possible.
Dental Implants & All-on-X
A dental implant is the closest thing modern dentistry has to growing a new tooth: a titanium root, placed precisely in the jaw, that your dentist restores with a crown, bridge, or full-arch prosthesis. Done well, implants look natural, chew like real teeth, and protect the jawbone from the slow shrinkage that follows tooth loss.
Every implant here is planned on 3D CBCT imaging — bone volume, nerve position, and the final tooth position are all mapped before the day of surgery. Dr. Lee places the implant and handles any grafting it needs; your dentist designs and delivers the final teeth. For patients missing all their teeth (or heading that way), All-on-X full-arch treatment replaces an entire arch on a small number of implants.
Implants and dentures are only as good as the bone and gum that support them. Grafting rebuilds that support: socket preservation at the time of an extraction keeps the ridge from collapsing; ridge augmentation restores bone that has already been lost; and sinus lifts create implant-ready bone in the back of the upper jaw — either through the implant site itself or through a small side window, depending on how much height is needed.
We also graft soft tissue. Gum grafting — using your own tissue or donor tissue — covers exposed roots, treats recession, and thickens fragile tissue so it holds up for the long term.
Answers & relief
Diagnosis & jaw care
When something in your mouth or jaw isn’t right, the first job is a clear answer.
Oral Pathology & Biopsies
A spot that wasn’t there before. An ulcer that won’t heal. A lump under the gum, a white patch, a shadow on an X-ray. Most oral lesions turn out to be benign — but the only honest way to know is to look at the tissue under a microscope.
Dr. Lee evaluates lesions of the mouth and jaws, performs the biopsy, and submits every specimen to a pathology laboratory for formal review. Results typically return within one to two weeks, and we call you the moment they arrive — never assume no news is good news. When a cyst or benign tumor needs to come out, we remove it, graft the site when the defect calls for it, and follow you until it’s fully resolved.
TMJ Treatment
Jaw-joint pain, clicking, locking, and morning soreness are usually managed best without surgery — and that’s where we start.
When the joint itself needs attention, arthrocentesis — a minimally invasive rinse of the joint space done through two tiny entry points — can wash out inflammation and restore motion. Surgical options exist for the small number of cases that truly need them, and Dr. Lee will tell you plainly whether yours is one.
Hospital-based care
Major & reconstructive surgery
The full scope of the specialty, performed at Avita Health System and Geisinger Health System.
Facial Trauma
Accidents don’t schedule themselves. Dr. Lee treats injuries of the face, mouth, and jaws — from knocked-out and broken teeth managed in the office to jaw and facial fractures repaired in the hospital operating room.
As a full-scope, hospital-affiliated oral and maxillofacial surgeon, he manages facial trauma from initial evaluation through final healing.
Sleep Surgery
For patients with obstructive sleep apnea who can’t tolerate CPAP, surgery on the jaws and airway can be a life-changing alternative. Dr. Lee evaluates surgical candidates in coordination with your sleep physician and, when surgery is the right answer, performs it in the hospital setting.
